Two new Chinese built cars are set to invade Europe this year, but this has provoked fresh safety fears as neither of the cars will not undergo official crash testing.
The great wall automobile company will launch yet another SUV, (which will no doubt take up more space on our narrow London roads). The Hover SUV and Deer pick-up will be launched in Europe next year, initially in Spain and Italy.
The great wall automobile company has predicted annual sales of up to 12,000 in three years. But the cars will be imported on a licence intended for trucks, which means they will not undergo official EU crash tests.
This will not doubt have far reaching consequences for anyone deciding to purchase any of these SUV's. As the any car insurance company may see these cars as a risk and decide to increase your insurance premium. Early this year the ADAC, a German version of the AA OF RAC reported how the first Chinese car to arrive on European roads, the Jiangling Landwind scored the lowest ever rating on their crash test. The Jiangling Landwind had evaded official crash tests by using a legal loophole.
There has now been a call for the EU to act. At the current time the EU is considering tightening the rules and German have acted first by delaying the launch.
