An 11 year old was arrested after being caught driving his father BMW. The boy was stop after the police noticed that the car did not have its light on, as it was night.
On of the police officers that stop he said that the boy could hardly see over the steering and this feet just about reached the pedals. Apon this arrest he was charged with theft, driving with no licence and car insurance. The boy in question has since been released on bailed to return at a later date.
The boy was said to have driven past a mark police car at about 140mph, with no lights at 21:40. Note that the winter it tends to get darker earier than in the summer.
A police spokesman said: "The car came to the officers' attention because it was driving without lights.They were pretty surprised when they saw the driver - he was so small that he could barely see over the steering wheel."
The police have confirmed that there was no else in the vechicle at the time of the arrest. It is not yet clear if the charges will stick as the car did belong to his father.
Although it may seem like a light hearted matter to some, the police are treating this as a very serouly as the boy could have injuied himself or other mototist. It could have also affected his father insurance premium.
